My home has become a showcase for my work and styling and is often used for photo shoots and filming. I love upcycling old pieces of furniture to create unique pieces for peoples homes. I am always busy scouring junk shops and diving into skips to find unique and interesting pieces for your home. It scares me how much of a disposable society we live in, nothing thrills me more than saving something from landfill and turning it from drab to fab and then seeing it take pride of place in a room I have designed for them. I have recently just won Chanel 4, Grand Designs Live, Interior Designer of the Year for my room set based on an upcycling and sustainability theme and am a trained Annie Sloan Chalk paint teacher holding regular workshops.
So when I am not working on Interior Design projects what else do I do.....
I have been lucky enough to work on some amazing projects and TV shows and my work has been included in several publications.
I appeared on the first series of 'The Great Interior Design Challenge' and following that my work has appeared in the book 'The Great Interior Design Challenge' and Ideal Home Magazine. One of my bathroom designs featured in Homes and Gardens Magazine' most inspired bathroom section' and then again in the July 2014 edition of '25 beautiful Homes Magazine' within their room envy feature.
I have worked assisting the judge Sophie Robinson from 'The Great Interior Design Challenge' styling the room sets for the Ideal Home Magazine at the Ideal Home show 2014 and 2015 and 2017, working with Sophie was an inspiration and lots of fun. My home was featured on ACHICA, and in Ideal Home Magazine. Exclusive Magazine did a feature on my Up-Cycling courses. Essentials Magazine also featured my children's bedroom designs.
My home is used as a location shoot and has appeared in countless TV adverts and advertising campaigns. My styling props store grows daily and people love to shoot at the house knowing that there will always be lots of unique finds and endless cacti and house plants to style their shoots with... along with great tea!
I was one of the 20 top Interiors and upcycling bloggers asked to take part in the Gumtree Upcycling Challenge and my upcycling work has featured on Channel 4, George Clarke's Amazing Spaces Floating Homes show and Gok Wan's 'Fill your house for free'
I worked with Gumtree on the #Upcyclerevolution bus tour across the UK on a upcycled Double Decker Bus promoting upcycling; teaching people how to upcycle and helping save old furniture from landfill one piece at a time. I continue to give talks and demonstrations at events such as The Ideal Home Show, Top Drawer London, Carfest and Le Manior Quatre Saisons.
Perhaps one of the things that I am most passionate about is my Warriors on Waste movement which now has a website all of its own. The aim of ‘Warriors on Waste’ is to teach and inspire the next generation of mini upcyclers how important and fun it is to upcycle and turn trash to treasure. I want to inspire the children to be better caretakers of this wonderful planet. I teach about plastic pollution and sustainability and have visited many schools on my ‘Saving Nemo Tour’
Oh and I am a Mum of two lovely girls with a cat. #reallyquitebusy.
